Gwen holds an undergraduate degree and a Ph.D. in Microbiology, and a master’s degree in Adult Education.

She has built the Applied Research program at Suncrest College (formerly Parkland College) since its inception in 2012. Gwen’s role became full-time in Applied Research in early 2021, since then the applied research at Suncrest has grown significantly. The program now supports over 22 positions each year, including four full-time research coordinators, three part-time coordinators and many student researchers. Areas of research include agriculture, Indigenous agriculture, Indigenous education, social science and business.

In her spare time, she sits on several boards, keeps a small flock of sheep and spins and knits the wool.

Gwen’s presentation will be Sept 12 from 11:10 am to 12. 

Gwen will present about how to nurture Applied Research within a rural community.
