Rules
Eligibility Criteria:

Contestants must be legal residents of Saskatchewan and at least eighteen (18) years old.

Contestants must live and work in rural Saskatchewan. Their business must be headquartered in a rural community and have the capacity to ensure that any seed funds awarded through this pitch competition are used in a rural setting.

Contestants may not be currently enrolled in an urban-based accelerator or incubator. However, prior participation in such programs is acceptable, provided they are no longer active participants.
“Rural Saskatchewan” means any geographic area within the Province of Saskatchewan that:
- (a) is located outside the corporate boundaries of a city with a population of 30,000 or more, as defined by the most recent federal census data;
- (b) includes towns, villages, resort villages, organized hamlets, rural municipalities, First Nations reserves, Métis settlements, and unorganized territories within Saskatchewan; and
- (c) is characterized by low population density, dispersed settlement patterns, or a local economy primarily based on agriculture, resource extraction, or rural industry.
All submissions MUST be the entrant’s original idea (modification of an original work is not an original idea). Submissions MUST NOT copy or otherwise plagiarize from any source.
Please note: This is not a lottery. Seed funding is provided as an investment in your business. As such, these funds must be reported to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as business income.
Original idea must be technology-based in nature. For example, software, electronic hardware or an engineered process.

Pitch Competition
The Pitch Competition will be held on September 23th, 2023 from 6: pm to 10 pm at the Affinity Centre in Estevan Saskatchewan.
As the Pitch Competition is part of the ICED Rural 2025 Conference, approved participants will be provided with free complimentary tickets to attend the conference.
Presentations.
Presentations must be made in person.
Exceptions may be made for virtual presentations only if your community is experiencing a local emergency, such as wildfires.
Cost.
There are no application fees of any kind associated with this pitch competition. However, participants will be responsible for covering their own travel, accommodation, and any other business or personal expenses related to participating.
